When and while (UOE 2)
WHEN and WHILE are both conjunctions to join 2 or more subordinate clauses…
(When) is usually used to introduce an event that interrupts the principal action, for example; I was studying (verb in continuous form) at my favourite coffee shop when my auntie called me to show me Olivia (cousin).
(While) help unite two or more subordinating clauses that are happening at the same time in a common timeline, it could be in continuous for or simple form referring to the verbs. for example; I and Oli have nice conversations while her parents sleep a little bit or My dad and I play with Oli while my mom and Nico were having some tea and chatting about life.

Round two!
When 2021 started, I had more doubts than certainties, I found myself a little bit lost (terrified inside). On my first day at online classes, I was excited about this new challenge. Inside my head questions such as Is my calling? I’m skilled enough? or I’m the right fit for the career? the answers were different each time I made those questions in my mind…
The days passed I answer them again, this time teachers started to congratulate me, a lot about my academic performance at first was something awkward to me, then my family started to notice a great improvement in my grades (my parents started to smile at me often) huge accomplishment.
My English skills improve my grades in my weakest ability started to rise (Mr Pizarro phonetics again!), writing/Speaking/ UOE get better as well, but my surprise was bigger with the midterm final mark (It rise for 5/10) another significant milestone in my first year of college.
I’m just a potential educator, I’m grateful to my teachers, the ones who teach me in English 1 (Miss Urrutia, Miss Mandiola, Mr Pizarro and Mr Aragú) all of them for me are examples of educators, Miss Inostroza this semester teach us a lot about writing about things that are meaningful to us. Her class was my favourite one because I love to tell stories that are meaningful not only to me, my dream is to write an LGBTQ+ novel, inspired by my own struggles with my sexuality, my identity and who I want to become( to empower/inspire), Thanks to Miss Inostroza I learn new skills to produce a text that is worthy of being published (In the future not soon).
Also, I grow as a person, I took big steps this semester, I’m a volunteer tutor, I’m proud of who I am today and I spect to continue growing and evolving because I was stuck for too long. So as my wise therapist told me once “You walk in shadows for too long, Is time to shine”

Two brothers won the Nobel prize proving that pigs can fly:
By: Emma Bórquez (CATCO Investigation reporter.)
Last Friday 5th of November, Francisco, and Alberto Schlageter two young local farmers were in their home when they were notified that they won the physics Nobel prize for their experiments to prove that pigs are capable of flying.
These two young brothers without any formal studies were harvesting potatoes when they saw two small pigs climbing to a pile of corn leaves, they jumped from the top flipping their ears. The brothers thought that they are trying to fly, so their creative minds started to work, when their parents leave the farm, they started with their plan to prove their hypothesis, that pigs can fly.

They set up the conditions for the experiment, they called some of their friends to help, George Sanchez recorded several attempts of the experiment without any positive results. Until Francisco proposed to release the last subject from the third floor of the old wooden house, the brothers released the last pig instead of the other subjects, the last one landed gracefully.
Afterward, they made a compilation of supporting evidence (Video, calculations, and small scientific essay), then they send it to the Norway Nobel Prize committee as a joke. According to Olav Njostad “We were revising very serious investigations, these young farmers surprised the committee at the end, all the members laughed at first”. He highlighted the quality of the supporting evidence presented, “ The supporting evidence was correct, we saw the videos, check the calculations, and read the report as well”.
We interview Kristen Clement (Head of the Norwegian department of education), she is also part of the committee as an educational associate. She said that “These young farmers are the future of physics if they probe that pigs are capable of flying, with the right tools they can prove anything”. Clement also said, “ I will organize a meeting with all the heads of educations of the EU, so we can give these farmers a brighter future”. According to Clement, they will send a proposal to the young award winners in the following week.

| Dentist: | Now the receptionist told me you’re a bit frightened of dentists. Is that right? |
| Khalid: | Yes I’m terrified actually. |
| Dentist: | Well I hope I can change your mind about me! So first of all, let me ask you a few questions about your dental history. |
| Khalid: | OK, if you think it will help. |
| Dentist: | I’m sure it will. Now can you remember your first visit to the dentist? |
| Khalid: | Yes, I was only young but I had to have a … a filling. |
| Dentist: | And why was that? |
| Khalid: | I ate lots of sweets when I was a boy. You see, I’ve always loved sugary things. |
| Dentist: | Go on. |
| Khalid: | But the dentist didn’t explain anything. He switched on the drill and when that horrible noise started, I just started screaming! |

| Assistant: | Happy New Year madam. How can I help you? |
| Helen: | I’d like to return this jumper, please. |
| Assistant: | I see. Is there anything wrong with it? |
| Helen: | Nothing except the color, the shape, and the size! |
| Assistant: | And do you have the receipt? |
| Helen: | No, you see it was a Christmas present. |
| Assistant: | Well if you just get the receipt from whoever gave you the gift, then come back to us, we’ll be happy to give you a refund. |
| Helen: | But my mum gave it to me. |
| Assistant: | Can’t you just ask her for the receipt then? |
| Helen: | Well, that’s the problem. My mum gives me a dreadful jumper every Christmas and I don’t want to hurt her feelings. |
| Assistant: | Well, without a receipt there’s not much I can do, sorry. |
