Digital learning forum 1:

From digital learning I learnt so many new things. On one hand I learnt about  the principles/tips to e-teaching or the history of tech associated with education. On the other hand we receive some great digital tools to learn (as students) and to teach (in our professional future).

Something that help me a lot is using the tools we use inside the classroom in other subjects for example for the assessment test I use the audiovisuals, take digital notes and I use text to speech with some complementary texts that help me because I got a very prominent musical intelligence so reading at loud and hearing the texts help me to understand better.

I’m circling around the same tools over and over again (Canva, Kahoot, google docs and genially). I want to master new websites and apps so I can enrich the way I study, tutor and teach professionally in the future).

I really enjoy these blended learning environments because they help us to reinforce our knowledge about e-learning but also give us useful studying techniques for our day-to-day activities. I really master the use of some digital learning tools so I feel more confident when I’m studying.

What are my tips? Firstly be curious, that way you can discover new tools that fit your study/teaching profile. Secondly, practice makes perfect, try to be better every day. Mistakes are your biggest lessons (More than success!). Thirdly don’t be hard on yourself, today maybe you are not capable of something, but work hard you are capable of everything!.

Class week 5: Developing effective strategies for locating appropriate digital content.

1A: I think all teachers or tutors had these problems at some point in their professional lives. I believe that the majority of these obstacles can be solved in very practical ways. The first thing I do when I want to find a new tool to work with is to establish keywords like subject, language, purpose and accessibility in terms of the hardware or software of the devices you are using (that can narrow the list a lot).

Secondly, you can bookmark or add a link to your search engine reading list (so you can revisit it for further study) there are a lot of free platforms to manage your online classroom (google classroom). There are tons of tutorials on these competencies online, you can use keywords to find those videos too.

Learning on digital platforms can be very engaging (you don’t need to entertain your students but you need to make them remember what you teach), cellphones can be used and supervised by the tutor or teacher (for students). You can use innovative learning tasks including everyone. There are public and private initiatives that are pursuing that e-learning is accessible to all.

Home task week 5

The part of the text that caught my attention was “meeting learners psychological needs”. For me as a student these 3 aspects are important, for me is key to feel that I own my learning process and that I have control over it (autonomy). To showcase my abilities in the different digital platforms (especially the ones I master) give me a sense of that I’m competent in learning and for me the most important of the 3 relatedness, when you feel you are on a class with students that need to accomplish the same learning outcomes, is easier to motivate yourself to continue. I will expect that my teacher made me feel comfortable and capable of learning, so I will do the same for my future students.

Experience, goals, challenges and expectations (Digital Learning)

Digital learning is a great tool, Since I’m little the things I remember the most were being in a computer science lab learning with games and videos. Now I’m a sophomore student at university, I value digital tools more; On one side the pandemic made us realize, that we can learn and work from home and on the other hand our future students will be more immersed, in the digital world.

Coming back to my experience, I find out that I learn more with interactive activities (Kahoot, videos or talks), so for me is a good asset, not only for my learning process or for my future students, is useful today because I can use them on my volunteer work (I teach Spanish). Also, I discover that preparing material on digital resources helps me refresh my knowledge (on pedagogical and language matters).

My goals for this class are to learn how to use new platforms of digital teaching and get stronger on the digital platforms I use more daily (Edublog or Google Docs). Also, I want to improve my audio upload quality and the recording of videos for my different classes. Even all this tools will be useful, for my many hobbies as well, an example of them are music.

The challenges; are to get stronger in terms of online teaching, which can be separated into two big things, firstly having a lot of auxiliary tools in case my primary resources fail and secondly improving the quality of my digital learning material (videos, canvas, audios).

My expectations are high, I learnt a lot from Mr.Pizarro on Phonetics, I spect the same of this course, a lot of new tools, good learning environment, memories and new concepts. I really enjoy the first class, so I expect great things from this class!.
